How to Claim Your Artist Profiles on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer & SoundCloud
As a music artist, you need to have control over your profiles on the streaming platforms you’re releasing on. Claiming your artist profiles on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Deezer not only enhances your visibility but also lets you manage your content, track performance, and connect with fans. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started.
Is your music ready for distribution?
Firstly, you'll need to make sure you have chosen a distributor for you music, as this is who will then upload it onto the connected streaming platforms. Read our guide 'Choosing the Right Distributor for You' for help choosing. This is the usual process for uploading music with them:
- As you can't upload music directly to Spotify etc, you need a digital music distributor. Popular options include DistroKid, TuneCore, AWAL and CD Baby.
- Sign up for an account with your chosen distributor.
- Follow their instructions to upload your music files (high-quality WAV or FLAC format), cover art (JPG), and enter track information (song titles, artist name, album title, etc.).
- Choose when you want your music to go live on Spotify etc (could be weeks in advance).
Spotify
Step 1: Set Up Your Profile
- Visit Spotify for Artists to get started.
- You'll be prompted to log in with your regular Spotify account, click "Get Access"
- Search for your artist name. Once you find it, click "Claim It."
- You might need to verify your identity by connecting your social media accounts or providing other information.
- Spotify will review your request. This usually takes a few days.
- Once your music is on Spotify, you can access your artist profile and Spotify for Artists dashboard.
Step 2: Verification
- After verifying your identity, you’ll receive full access to customise your profile.
- A verification check mark will be added next to your artist name.
