10 Social Content Ideas for Bands and Musicians in 2025

10 Social Content Ideas for Bands and Musicians in 2025

Ever found yourself staring at a blank screen, wondering what to post? Yup, been there. We all understand that creating engaging content on social media is essential for any artist, but sometimes the ideas just aren’t flowing. Creative block and burnout are all too real.

And the longer you spend in that funk, the more difficult it can be to get out of it. We wrote this guide to help you shake off the cobwebs, spark your creativity, and get your content flowing again. Even if they’re not all suitable, we hope at least a few will inspire you.

Whether you’re new to the content game or looking to freshen up your strategy, mixing things up by experimenting with different platforms is a great way to inject some new life into your online presence. (Most of the below are suitable for multiple social platforms.)

Without further ado, here are ten evergreen content ideas for bands, musicians, and DJs.

1. Share Your "Why"

Why do you make music? What inspired your latest track? Is your next album taking a new direction? Sharing the deeper reasons behind your art, in a video clip or a heartfelt post, can help your audience understand your passion and connect with you on a deeper level.

Example:
A video of you talking about your writing process or what drives you to keep creating.

2. Behind the Scenes Clips

Audiences are always keen to see what goes into making the music they love, especially if that means getting a glimpse of what’s coming next. Take them behind the curtain with footage from rehearsals, studio sessions, or even a sneak peek inside your lyric notebook.

Example: Record a time-lapse video of you laying down tracks or the band warming up.

3. Tutorials or Demos

Fans clamouring to know what weird guitar tuning your last song uses or how you hit those high notes in the chorus? Create a short video tutorial with tabs or share your vocal exercises on TikTok and Instagram Reels to show your audience how it’s done.

Example: Break down a challenging guitar solo from your latest track.

4. Celebrate Milestones

Five years since you dropped your first album? Latest song just hit a million streams? Congrats! Now it’s time to make some noise about it. Celebrating achievements keeps your fans invested and encourages those who’ve been there since the beginning to engage.

Example: A post thanking your fans when your single reaches 100,000 streams on Spotify, with a call to action asking them to share what they thought when they first heard it.

5. Share Your Influences

Fans want to know about the person, or people, behind the music. Sharing playlists of your favorite tracks or artists, books, and films that have influenced your work is an easy way to show them who you are. It might even inspire future collabs if those featured get wind of it!

Example: A carousel post featuring live performers you admire or your favourite album art.

6. Give Your Fans a Shout-Out

If you’re going through a creative dry spell, user-generated content (UGC) can be a lifeline. Sharing clips of fans covering your songs or creating fan art shows appreciation and builds a stronger sense of community, without requiring much effort or time on your part.

Example: Share a fan tattoo (as long as it’s SFW!) inspired by your lyrics on Insta Stories.

7. Keep an Eye on Trending Topics

Although not every single one will work for you – always keep it authentic – trends and challenges can help you stay relevant. Putting an unexpected spin on an existing trend by remixing it or subverting it in some way can be a really powerful way to capture attention.

Example: When it’s released, share your own Spotify Wrapped or feature some super fans.

8. A Day in the Life of…

We’ve already talked about offering a look behind the scenes, but this is a way to take things to the next level. Share snippets of your daily routine, from your morning coffee and a GRWM to a lunch date and unwinding with the cat, to show them the real, unfiltered you.

Post in real time on Stories or put together a more curated video for TikTok or IG Reels.

Example: A vlog-esque look at prepping for a gig, from soundcheck to your pre-show rituals.

9. Share Your Opinions

Talking about issues that are important to you, without coming across as condescending or preachy, makes you more relatable. Stay true to your voice and values, whether you’re talking industry trends or personal views on hot topics, but don’t expect everyone to agree…

Example: For World Mental Health Day, talk about how mindfulness keeps you grounded.

10. Tease New Projects

Drop hints about upcoming projects, whether it’s a new single or a merch drop, to keep your audience guessing. Teasers and clips can help to build anticipation, encourage pre-saves, and create buzz around whatever you have in the pipeline.

Example: A blurred-out photo of your next album cover, captioned, “Big things coming 👀”

Above all, remember that variety is the spice of life: don’t feel pressure to stick to one type of content. Experiment with different formats and platforms to see what resonates with your audience, i.e. what generates follows, shares, preorders, etc.

Mixing things up not only keeps your content interesting for your followers, but can also reduce the likelihood of feeling like you’ve fallen into a rut. Focus on creating a connection with your audience, let your personality shine through, and (try to!) be consistent.
